Bradford 1-0 Barnsley

Last updated : 26 April 2015 By Rob Miles (BarnsleyBoy)

Barnsley’s slow decline to the end of the season continued this weekend have now gone nine matches without a win, continuing their longest run without victory since December 2012.

However The Reds did lose for only the third time in 15 outings.

This defeat means Barnsley failed to win a single game in April. The first calendar month in which they have played more than once in but not registered a victory since November 2013.

Barnsley have gone eight games without a clean sheet, their longest run since November 2013.

The Reds failed to score themselves for only the third time in 17 matches.

Last weekend Barnsley conceded in the first 20 minutes of a game for only the second time in their past 15 matches, they did it again yesterday.

Jon Stead has now scored seven goals against Barnsley.

His effort for Bradford yesterday came from their only shot on target…. Just like their only goal did at Oakwell back in October.

Barnsley have now been behind at half time on 17 occasions this season, and have come back to win only twice.

Barnsley have now scored only nine first half goals in their past 25 games.

After winning three away games on the trot, Barnsley are now winless in five on the road.

This was Barnsley’s final away game of the season, and they failed to score for only the seventh time out of those 23 matches.

They won only six of those games; however the last time they won more than this was when they last won promotion from League One (7)

This defeat means the highest Barnsley can finish this season is eighth. Victory over Rochdale in the final game of the season next weekend will see them finish a point behind Keith Hill’s side who currently reside in seventh spot.

Bradford’s win edges them in front of Barnsley in the head to heads, 37 to 36 and Barnsley have won only one of the ten league meetings with the Bantams now.
