Colchester 2-3 Barnsley

Last updated : 13 December 2015 By Rob Miles (BarnsleyBoy)

Barnsley won for only the seventh time in 30 league matches and only the second time in 12.

Conor Hourihane has now scored in four successive league games and he has been The Reds first goal scorer in those matches.

No other Reds player has scored a first half league goal since October.

Barnsley opened the scoring in a league game for only the second time in nine matches

Barnsley led at half time for only the third time in 16 matches.

Barnsley held a two goal half time lead for only the second time this season (the other being the 2-0 win against Gillingham in September)

It is the first time they have held such a lead away from home since December 2011 when they won 4-3 at Peterborough.

Seven of Barnsley’s last 12 goals in all competitions have been scored by either Conor Hourihane or Adam Hammill.

Hammill scored his first league goal for Barnsley since Boxing Day 2010.

Barnsley have scored three times away from home on three occasions this season, the most since they did it four times in 2012-2013

They have though now gone 15 games in all competitions without a clean sheet, their worst run since they went a whopping 25 without a shut out between 31st August 2002 and the 18th January 2003.

Barnsley have now conceded 36 league goals this season, only yesterday’s opponents Colchester have conceded more- a staggering 52. Chesterfield and Crewe have also conceded 36.

Incredibly, Barnsley made no substitutions for the first time in over five years. The last time the starting 11 all ended the match was in a 1-0 win over Portsmouth on the 20th November 2010- Adam Hammill also scored in that match.

Barnsley have now won as many away league games as they have home (3) with two of those coming since The Reds last tasted victory in front of their own supporters. If you take cup games in account they have actually won more away (5 to 4)
