Coventry 4-3 Barnsley

Last updated : 04 November 2015 By Rob Miles (BarnsleyBoy)

Barnsley have lost seven league games in a row for the first time in 56 years. They lost eight in a row in the 1958-1959 season, which was part of a run that saw them lose 10 of their final 11 games of the season…. And were relegated.

Their winless run at Coventry also continues. Barnsley have won just twice there, the last of which came 92 years ago. They have now lost 16 of the 24 matches since their last victory, in 1923.

Barnsley conceded four times at Coventry for the fourth time in the last nine visits.

Barnsley have lost 10 of their 16 league games this season, the most in the division.

They have conceded 27 goals, only Colchester (34) have conceded more.

Ryan Kent’s third minute opener was the earliest Barnsley have conceded a goal since Jason Kennedy’s first minute effort for Bradford back in October 2014.

Since winning six in a row back in March, Barnsley have won only five of the subsequent 25 league matches.

Barnsley finally managed to score a goal from open play last night, however two of their goals were from set pieces, meaning seven of their past eight goals have come this way

The Reds were behind at half time for the fifth time in their past seven league games overall.

Barnsley are the joint lowest drawers in the division with two. They have gone nine games since the last stalemate.

The Reds have gone eight games without a clean sheet in all competitions.

Barnsley have picked up at least two yellow cards in each of their last seven matches.

Barnsley scored three goals on the road for the third time in 17 matches.

Reece Wabara has been booked in four of his last five appearances.
