This defeat, the 23rd of the season now leaves the club on the brink of relegation. The Reds are now four points adrift of safety with two games remaining.

Defeat for Barnsley at Middlesbrough on Saturday will confirm relegation to League One.

Nick Proschwitz ended an eight game drought with his fourth goal for the club.

The Reds have gone five home games without a goal but have managed to net in four of their last five away matches.

Barnsley’s miserable run when falling 1-0 behind continues. The last time they came back from this score-line to win a match was the 19th February 2013. Of the 57 league games they have played since, they have conceded the first goal on 32 occasions, losing 26, and drawing six.
