No fun by the sea as Reds fail to score AGAIN.

Last updated : 11 August 2013 By Rob Miles (BarnsleyBoy)

The Reds were done by a last minute own goal. So often perennial late conceders this was the third time Barnsley have conceded in the last minute in their past eight matches.

Scott Golbourne flicked a Blackpool throw in into his own net (so I suppose we can claim to have scored this season), it is the first time Barnsley have conceded an own goal since the 11th September 2011 when Stephen Foster got Norwich’s first in a 2-1 Barnsley defeat.

The Reds have now failed to score in any of their first three games of the season and have managed just ONE shot in target between their two in the league. They also failed to net in their first three games of the 2011-2012 season.

It is only the second time they have failed to score at Bloomfield Road in 11 visits.

This result means Barnsley have now only won their first away game of a season once in 16 years and it is the first time they have lost their opening two league games of a season since 2008-2009.
