Peterborough 2-1 Barnsley

Last updated : 18 October 2014 By Rob Miles (BarnsleyBoy)

Barnsley suffered their second away league defeat of the season today and have now lost five of their 12 matches so far this season.

The Reds have won four of those 12, at this stage last season they had managed to win three….

Barnsley lost a game after taking the lead for the first time this season. The last time it happened was in the relegation confirmer at Middlesbrough back in April.

Devante Cole’s opening goal after 15 minutes was only the second time in nine outings that Barnsley had managed to net a first half goal.

On the five occasions that The Reds have scored before half time this season, they have only once gone on to score in the second half too.

It was Cole’s third league goal for the club, two of those three have been in defeats.

James Bailey became the second Barnsley player to be shown a red card this season. It was the first of the 26-year-old midfielder’s career.

Peterborough are now unbeaten in four league matches and are now four points clear of third place Swindon.

Midfielder Marcus Maddison who got the winner has now scored in three successive games for Peterborough, taking his tally for the season to nine.

Posh have won this fixture 2-1 in each of the last two occasions. Prior to that Barnsley had won five in a row at London Road.
