Reading 0-0 Barnsley

Last updated : 12 February 2017 By Rob Miles (BarnsleyBoy)

Barnsley have now had four goal-less draws this season and they have come in two back to back sequences. These are the only times that The Reds have gone back to back games without scoring this season and also the only times they have secured back to back clean sheets.

It was the 11th time this season they have been 0-0 at half-time and they have managed to avoid defeat in nine of those matches (W: 4 D: 5 L: 2)

This was Barnsley’s seventh away clean sheet of the season (out of 12 in total) it is the most clean sheets they have accrued on the road at this level since also gaining seven in 1998-1999.

The Reds are unbeaten in three trips to the Madejski (W2 D1) and have lost only two of their last 11 trips to Berkshire (W5 D4 L2) In contrast Barnsley have failed to win any of the last six Oakwell meetings, losing five.

Barnsley managed only 32% possession in this match, their joint lowest of the season (also both meetings with Fulham and away at Huddersfield), this is the first of the quartet that they have not lost.

Barnsley conceded 12 corners at the Madejski, the joint most this season- also conceded 12 at Cardiff.

Gethin Jenkins received the first yellow card of his professional career.

This was the only goal-less draw in the Championship this weekend and one of only three in the Football League.

The Reds managed to halt the Reading juggernaut at the Madejski, prior to this the Royals had won seven of their last eight home matches and Barnsley are only the third team to stop them scoring on their own patch.
