Reds Snatch Point To Move Off Bottom.

Last updated : 29 January 2014 By Rob Miles (BarnsleyBoy)

Lewin Nyatanga made only his second appearance for The Reds whilst Nick Proschwitz made his debut.

For the second time this season, Barnsley took a first half lead against Blackburn but went in at the break behind.

These are the only two occasions this season in the league that Barnsley have taken the lead but then fallen behind.

Debutant Proschwitz and Chris O’Grady netted for Barnsley tonight. The first time two Reds strikers have been on the score-sheet in the same game since August!

Barnsley have been awarded penalties in three of their last five home league games.

This was only the third time this season that Barnsley have salvaged something from a game when trailing at half time.

The Reds have now won just one of their last eight Championship matches but they are still unbeaten in the league in 2014.

This is the first time Barnsley have gone through the first month of the year unbeaten since 2005.

They have failed to beat Blackburn now in eight meetings, stretching back to 2000, but this draw ended a run of four defeats against them.

To end the report on a positive note, Derby’s stunning comeback victory over Yeovil moved The Reds off the bottom of the table for the first time since 23rd November.
