Rochdale 3-0 Barnsley

Last updated : 31 August 2015 By Rob Miles (BarnsleyBoy)

Barnsley suffered their joint heaviest defeat at Rochdale. They also lost 3-0 there in 1954.

It was only their second defeat in eight trips to Spotland.

Now in the past 12 meetings home and away that have provided a winner only two has seen both teams score.

After leading 2-0 at half time in midweek, Barnsley trailed by the same scoreline at the break yesterday. It is the first time in nearly a year they have been as many as two goals behind at the break. A 5-3 defeat to MK Dons last September was the last time.

This was Barnsley’s heaviest defeat since a 5-1 hammering at Crawley in February.

Barnsley fell behind in the eighth minute, the earliest they have conceded a goal for 46 games since they conceded in the first minute to Bradford last October.

Barnsley had just one shot on target yesterday.
