Barnsley conceded in the 88th minute or later for the fifth successive game in all competitions – a club record – but incredibly did it twice to somehow throw away a comfortable 2-0 lead and only take a point which extends the side’s winless run to five games, their worst run since a seven game streak between 4th March and 5th April.
It is the first time Barnsley have conceded twice after 88 minutes of a game since the 27th January 2018 when Fulham scored after 90+2 and 90+4 to win 3-1 at Oakwell.
It is the first time in 14 months that the Reds have let a 2-0 lead slip to draw 2-2, last occurring on the 24th August 2024 against Northampton whilst it is the first time on the road since the 29th December 2023 against Peterborough.
Following Reyes Cleary opening the scoring with his first goal for the club Davis Keillor-Dunn scored his sixth league goal of 2025-2026. Only Bolton’s Mason Burstow has more in League One (7) however he has played 11 games compared to DKD’s 10.
Speaking of 10 games, this result saw Barnsley reach the stage of a season where they generally say the table starts to take shape. The Reds are 9th with 17 points, which is their joint best start (with 2022-2023) since returning to League One.
As mentioned before Barnsley have set a club record for number of successive games conceding after 88 minutes, with this the first time they have conceded injury time goals in two successive away league games for 13 years, last occurring in March 2012 against Coventry and Middlesbrough - it actually occurred in three out of four away league matches at that time.
Murphy Cooper has now picked up four yellow cards this season, matching the tally for a goalkeeper by Brad Collins in 2021-2022.
The other player booked against Wycombe was Jonathan Bland who has now been shown a card in three successive appearances and four of the last five.
He is the first Barnsley player to be booked in three successive games since Mael de Gevigney received a yellow in four games in a row between 3rd February and 17th February 2024.
Bland has made 27 appearances for Barnsley and been booked in 11 of them so has incredibly been booked in 40% of his appearances.
Barnsley have kept only one clean sheet in their opening 14 games of a season (all comps) their worst start defensively since 2017-2018 when it took until the 18th game to achieve a second.
Despite failing to hold onto a lead the Reds have now lost just one of their last six meetings with Wycombe (W3 D2 L1) and only two of the last 10 (W6 D2 L2)
Two of the last three meetings have finished 2-2 whilst at least one team has scored at least twice in each of the last four clashes and the home team has scored exactly two in all four.
Wycombe have scored injury time goals in each of the last two Adams Park meetings which has earned them an extra three points (1 win 1 draw)
There has been six goals scored in the 85th minute or later in the last five meetings overall.
Barnsley have thrown away a lead in each of their last two visits – also going from 1-0 up to losing 2-1 in the last minute last season.
This was only the eighth ever meeting at Wycombe and Barnsley have lost only once with this only the second draw – the first being the first ever meeting there in 2003.
There were 15 corners in the game, the most in a Barnsley game this season and most since the 25th January against Stevenage (also 15)
