Angry Hodges tears into Reds

Glyn Hodges was furious with his players after the latest performance from this Jekyll and Hyde Barnsley team.

The weekend's victory over Cardiff was quickly forgotten as Barnsley were knocked out of the LDV Trophy at the first time of asking. Ironically, the Reds controlled much of the game in the early stages but failed to create many clear cut chances.

After Matt Ghent's embarrassing error had enabled Bury to take the lead, the home side went on to give Barnsley a lesson, according to Hodges:
"I am embarrassed for those supporters although I have seen nothing new that I did not know already".

The Caretaker boss told the club's official website "We have not picked up any further injury problems because the lads would have to tackle to get hurt".

With Saturday's big FA Cup tie against Blackpool on the horizon, Hodges promised that changes would be made: "The challenge to the players is make sure you keep your shirt but honestly how many would after that?"
