New Reds owner Sean Lewis and his team attended a meeting with the Football Authorities in Preston yesterday.

Lewis said: "All parties –the Football League and Football Association – were very pleased with the outcome of the meeting.

"Our party included our consultant Tony Scholes, who used to work with the FA and spent many years with Preston North End during which he oversaw a successful restructuring that saw them reach the standing they now have in the game. Tony is now part of our team.

"Chris Patzelt, Kenny Moyes and myself were all at the meeting and we all worked very hard and it was all extremely positive.

"The League and FA set out a list of criteria that we have to meet before the share is transferred. Everybody at the meeting was very proactive and we are all working together to get this situation concluded in the near future. It looks as if now we are on board we are between 70 to 80% there and we made the League aware that we can fully satisfy the creditors voluntary arrangement subject to us being match fit with their criteria.

"We now just have to satisfy some of the rules and regulations in order to transfer the share. Chris is now on the case and working towards this".
