Barnsley 2-1 Oldham

Last updated : 13 April 2016 By Rob Miles (BarnsleyBoy)

There were three first half substitutions in a Barnsley game for the first time since September 2011 when Derby made one and Barnsley two in a 1-1 draw.

Oldham conceded a goal for the first time in 5 games. Before last night they had kept four successive clean sheets.

Barnsley led a home game at half time for the first time in four Oakwell outings. It was also the first time they had taken the lead in the same amount of home games (2-0 win v Coventry)

Sam Winnall bagged his 20th goal of the season and ended a five game drought in the process.

He is the first Barnsley player to hit 20 goals in one season (19 league 1 cup) since Craig Hignett scored 21 in 1999-2000 (19 league, 2 play-offs)

The striker now has 33 goals for Barnsley putting him joint 55th in the club’s all time charts, level with Alex Wright.

Out of the last 12 victories Barnsley have had this was only the fourth not accompanied with a clean sheet.

There were as many as five bookings in a Barnsley match for the first time in nine games.

Despite winning their last four matches on the road this was Barnsley’s first victory at Oakwell in four.

Barnsley are yet to go consecutive games without winning in 2016. The 1-1 draw with Sheffield United at the end of November and then 2-2 Johnstones Paint Trophy draw with Wigan at the start of December were the last time.

Barnsley are unbeaten in each of their last four Tuesday night matches, winning three.

This was their SIXTH successive league victory over Oldham- they have done the double over them in each of the last three seasons they have met (2015-2016, 2014-2015, 2005-2006)
