Burton manager Nigel Clough said:

"It was another good game and we have been involved in a few in the last few weeks but that was right up there with two teams going at it hammer and tongs. The endeavour and honesty in the game shone out.

"We should have won it more comfortably because of the start to the second half. In that five or six minutes we should have scored another goal or two and put the game to bed.

"Unfortunately they go up the other end, there's one shot from 25 yards and it's in the top corner. It's a different game then.

"But we protected the goalkeeper very well today. The two centre halves did their jobs. They dealt with so many balls into the box. Lucas Akins at right back acquitted himself brilliantly and the work rate all over the pitch was excellent with Stephen Quinn bringing it all together for us in the middle of the pitch."
