Davey Lifts Lid On Missing Press Conference

Reds boss Simon Davey has revealed why he allowed Assistant Ryan Kidd to do the post-match press conference after the 4-1 hammering of Doncaster Rovers.

Davey skipped the usual questioning and many supporters and media hacks presumed it was because the fans had called for his head during the game.

Davey though admitted this was slightly the case (as he knew the questions would be about his future if he went) but he said the presence of Kidd would mean the focus would be on the game and the players performance.

Davey told www.barnsleyfc.co.uk ahead of this weekend's SKY encounter at Crystal Palace:

"I did not attend the press conference after the Doncaster game because I felt I had spent the last ten weeks saying the same things. I could have sent a tape in. After the game I felt that the questions would revolve about the pressure on me so I felt it was important to let Ryan (Kidd) go in and put all the focus on the players and the performance."

Davey also revealed morale at the club could not be higher.
