Foster Signing Imminent

Last updated : 17 June 2006 By Rob Miles (barnsley Boy)

Barnsley chairman Gordon Shepherd has confirmed he has offered a two year contract to Crewe Alexandra's Stephen Foster.

Foster was named Crewe's Most Dependable Player last season but injury ruled him out of the final run-in and he was powerless to prevent Crewe slipping into League One.

Shepherd's contract though will allow him to remain in the Championship.

Shepherd told the Barnsley Chronicle:

"We have offered Steve Foster a two-year deal and he is thinking it over. I had a meeting with him and his agent yesterday and those talks were very amicable. We are hoping for a positive outcome.

"We have made an offer to another player as well and although it would be unfair to name him at the moment, but he would be another good signing for the club".
