Gudjon wants 2 new signings!

Reds manager Gudjon Thordarson wants two players signed in time for tomorrow's LDV Trophy tie against Sheffield Wednesday.

Rory Fallon's likely departure to Swindon for £60,000 and Peter Handyside's ankle ligaments injury on top of a growing casualty list has left Thordarson with few options.

"We have 12 fit players. The problem is how to fill the replacements' bench. I want to sign one or two players," he confirmed.

Lee Crooks (ankle) has been ruled out of the Hillsborough match as has Dean Gorre (hamstring) and both are doubtful for Saturday's home game with Tranmere Rovers when Antony Kay is also suspended.

Gudjon Thordarson is looking for a defender on loan and has a Premiership striker (not Dion Dublin) in mind.

Barnaley will however need permission from the Football League to complete any deals until Peter Ridsdale brings the club out of administration.

On Fallons's departure Gudjon said: "Rory wanted to speak to Swindon and that tells you more about his long-term commitment."

"There was no reason to hold onto him. Obviously this will enable us to bring in another striker, hopefully more proven."
