Barnsley boss Andy Ritchie had admitted he is ready to dip into the loan market for a defender before Saturday's must-win clash against his former side Oldham.
The Reds are in dire straits after 3 straight defeats and are now without a goal in 365minutes.
Ritchie told the Official Site:
" We have not really picked up any new injuries and we will have to wait and see how Matt Carbon reacts but we will be looking to get a new defender in on loan.
We will be moving in the next couple of days and we have some people in mind but we will have to see if we can get them to the club"
Under the new transfer rules clubs in the Football League are not allowed to sign any players permanently until the transfer window opens again in January but are allowed to make what are called " Emergency Loan Signings"
