Perrys Extend Oakwell Deal

Perry Motor Sales have extended their sponsorship of Barnsley Football Club by taking over sponsorship of the Disabled Stand for 2008-2009. Perrys who have been involved with Barnsley since 2005-2006 when they started sponsoring the back of The Reds shirts have agreed to take on both deals for the coming season.

They will sponsor the Disabled Stand for two years and Barnsley FC General Manager Dan Rowing told www.barnsleyfc.co.uk:

"We are delighted that Perrys has further strengthened its ties with the Club by taking over as Disabled Stand Sponsors from this summer.

"This is another major deal for us, which shows how working closely with the Club can benefit companies and residents in the local area. We want to unite the community and local businesses behind this Club and demonstrate that this town is stronger together".

Meanwhile Blackpool boss Simon Grayson has gone public on his desire to sign Barnsley winger Martin Devaney.

The Tangerines triggered a £150,000 release clause in Devaney's contract at the weekend but Simon Davey said this did not mean the club had to sell the winger who has made 131 appearances for the club since signing in 2005 but Grayson is confident as he told www.blackpoolfc.co.uk:

"I can clarify we had a bid go in to Barnsley for Martin Devaney. He is a talented player who I like and I think he is someone who would give us something different.

"Whichever players come in for the wide positions can't be compared to Wes (Hoolahan). Martin is a player we have looked at for a long time, I wanted to sign him 18 months ago but couldn't. Hopefully we will be able to do something this time round, we have made Barnsley an offer and it is up to them whether they accept it and whether we can agree personal terms, but we have done what we can do at this stage and that is put a bid in."
