Reds owner Sean Lewis has told supporters the club has enough cash to get through the season.
Lewis spoke at a joint meeting of the Barnsley Supporters club and Barnsley Supporters Society last night at Ardsley House Hotel.

A supporters' spokesman said: "Everyone has come away very positive. We were there two hours with Sean Lewis, Gudjon Thordarson and Ronnie Glavin.

"Sean answered 95 per cent of questions. He was asked about the debt owed to the Sterling consortium but was unable to answer because of a confidentiality clause in the agreement."

It is understood that money was borrowed from the Sterling group by previous owner Peter Doyle to buy the club out of administration.

Lewis, the new proprietor, has taken over all Barnsley's debts although Doyle has retained a 40 per cent interest in Barnsley Holdings Ltd, the company that own the stadium and surrounding land.

The spokesman added: "We were reassured there was no problem with the coming season and there was a business and commercial plan in place to see the club into the following year."
