New Reds owner Sean Lewis has announced that local businessmen Alan Sherriff and Peter Jones will form a new shadow board of directors at Oakwell.

Both men were involved in an unsuccessful bid to buy the Reds when the club first went into administration last October.

Mr Lewis explained this latest development. He said, "We've taken the first step forward.

"I've established a shadow board of directors. I've appointed two members to that board; one of them will be acting as chairman.

"This is to assist me in the reshaping of the club and rebuilding the foundations to take this club forward."

Mr Lewis confirmed that the two men were very committed to the future of Barnsley FC.

Lewis said, "Both of those two gentlemen are putting time, effort, energy, money, finances, commitment - all of it - behind this club, to take it forward."

Lewis also revealed that Patrick Cryne has so far shown no interest in investing in the Reds following last month's takeover.

Mr Cryne was one of the financial backers in Peter Ridsdale's failed bid to buy the club.
